A young cypress against a star spackled sky,
Set an eerie backdrop for the feel of the night.
Pitifully lost a haphazard shot in the dark,
Realizing too late that I’ve missed my mark.
The mist hangs low as it traverses the slope making it clear,
If I want to roll with you I’ve got to play it off austere.

Coming up on a break, looks like the dead end of my last mistake.
Maybe our trails are right on track, the blazes reveal we pick up again at the switchback.

Glassy-eyed I will swallow my pride like I usually do,
Swinging with those demons to create a perception of a leveled out mood.

The origin of vanity
A reflection off a lake
Causing refraction in your course
Coarsely chopping at a space
A slated spot existing at the bottom of the neck
Sends an electrifying pulse like a charge at depth
Systematically nervous a deep instilled fear
Raised with the wool over our eyes never to be
Shear-stress forgone i’m beginning to hear the creak
Of my own drive to learn snapping past its peak
